Why corporate organisers pick W.A.R

Booking a corporate day is a different problem to booking a stag party. As an HR or office manager you need:

  • Predictable risk — insurance certificates, risk assessments, accident records
  • Exclusive hire — your team only, no overlap with strangers
  • A grown-up venue — toilets that work, hot food, a meeting room for the wrap-up
  • All abilities catered for — not everyone in the team wants to take a paintball to the chest, and that’s fine
  • An invoice, not a deposit-on-PayPal — proper accounts process

W.A.R is built for that. Most of our weekday calendar is corporate bookings — we know the format, we have the paperwork ready, and we’ll send a single PDF that covers everything Procurement needs.

What’s included in a corporate day

The standard W.A.R corporate paintball day is a three- to four-hour exclusive-hire session for 10-80 people:

  • Exclusive-hire site — your team only, no other groups
  • All safety equipment — full-face thermal masks, body armour, neck guards, gloves on request
  • Modern semi-automatic markers with chronograph verification before play
  • 300 paintballs per person included (top-ups £8/100 if needed)
  • Pre-game briefing in our heated indoor base camp
  • Structured team-building scenario in the morning (designed for the group’s size and demographic)
  • Free-form competitive play in the afternoon
  • Dedicated marshal team with ratios appropriate to group size
  • Heated base camp for breaks, catering and the post-day debrief
  • Full insurance and risk assessment documentation on request

Bolt-on options

  • Hot lunch catering — chilli + jacket potatoes, pulled-pork rolls, BBQ grill in summer (from £12/head)
  • Meeting room hire for the morning briefing or afternoon debrief (£75)
  • Bespoke trophies for the winning team (£25–£75)
  • Photographer capturing the day for internal comms / social (£200)
  • Splatmaster zone for non-combat colleagues who’d rather watch or play lighter (£10/head)
  • Airsoft afternoon for a separate group who’d rather skirmish (£15/head supplement)
  • Combine with stag-do format for a more chaotic team social

Team-building scenarios we run

A corporate paintball day at W.A.R isn’t just “shoot each other for 3 hours.” Our marshals deliver a structured morning of scenarios designed for collaboration, communication and leadership — then unwind into competitive free-play in the afternoon. Standard scenarios include:

The Hostage

A scenario built around delegation and chain-of-command — one team has to extract a “hostage” (a willing team member, ideally a senior leader) from a defended position. Forces the attacking team to nominate a leader, plan a route, brief the squad, and execute under fire. Big learning moment when the plan survives first contact (or doesn’t).

Bomb Disposal

Two teams race to defuse “bombs” in the Vietnam Village — but the defusal sequence requires two people to operate simultaneously while a third covers them. Forces pair-trust and explicit communication.

Presidential Escort

One “VIP” (often the CEO if they’re up for it) has to be moved from one end of the site to the other, with a defending team trying to take them out. Tests planning, formations, and how the team handles a single point of failure.

Last Department Standing

Splits the group into business-unit teams (engineering, sales, marketing, etc.) and runs a battle-royale — survives until one team is left. Universally popular as the day-closer; cuts across hierarchy in a way nothing else does.

Free-form afternoon

After the structured scenarios, the marshals open the seven zones for fast-rotating capture-the-flag, attack/defend and last-team-standing rounds. Pace, intensity and physicality all adjustable to the group.

Manchester corporate clients we work with

We’ve run corporate days for businesses across Greater Manchester for over twenty years — from 12-person tech startups in the Northern Quarter to 80-person sales conferences from companies on the Cheadle and Birchwood business parks. We won’t name names without permission but typical bookings:

  • Tech / SaaS companies doing post-funding social or new-starter onboarding
  • Sales floors running quarterly target celebrations or kickoffs
  • HR-led wellbeing days (paintball + Splatmaster split for opt-out alternatives)
  • Manufacturing & engineering teams from the surrounding Cheshire industrial estates
  • Universities and graduate schemes ahead of summer cohort starts
  • Charity team-building days as fundraisers (we discount for registered charities)

If you’re shortlisting venues and want to talk to a recent comparable booker for a reference, ask — we’ll connect you with two or three with their consent.

Frequently asked questions

What if some of our team don’t want to be hit with paintballs?

Genuinely common — usually 1 in 8 people would rather not. Three options:

  1. Splatmaster — much lower-impact ammunition. Same site, runs alongside the paintball. They get to play and not bruise. Add-on £10/head.
  2. Marshal-assist role — work with our marshal team as an observer/scorekeeper. Free.
  3. Base-camp role — coordinate catering, photos, the trophy ceremony. Free.

Nobody has to play if they don’t want to. The whole point is the team being together; the activity is secondary.

Can we book exclusive use?

Yes — for 30+ people exclusive site hire is standard (no other groups on the site that day). For smaller corporate groups we can guarantee a private session but you may not have the entire site to yourselves. Specify on enquiry.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 28 days before the event date. Cancellations 14-28 days: 50% of total invoice. Cancellations under 14 days: 100% — but we’ll re-book a substitute date within 12 months at no charge.

Do you cater for disabilities and accessibility needs?

The site is uneven woodland so wheelchair access to the playing zones is limited. Base camp, toilets and catering area are level-access. We’ve hosted players with various mobility, sensory and neurodiverse needs — call us in advance and we’ll talk through what your team needs and what we can accommodate.

Can we book midweek?

Yes — most corporate bookings are midweek (Tue/Wed/Thu most popular). Midweek per-head rates are 10-15% lower than weekend. Friday afternoons are a common alternative to a quiz-night-and-pints office social.

Do you run evening or twilight sessions?

May-September only, by arrangement. Popular as the front-end of a Manchester evening social — paintball 17:00-20:00, coach back to a restaurant or bar in the city for 21:00.
